Education

I believe every student is capable, responsible, and accountable for their learning.  I believe quality education is impossible without a healthy cooperation between the parents and the teacher, and parents are essential to encouraging students' learning.  Students are the central focus in my favorite lessons, I love teaching with inquiry- where students are led by their questions and observations of phenomenon.  I love teaching Science in group-driven, performance based collaborative projects and group discussions.  My style is a fast-paced one, although I will slow down and wait as long as I need to for any student, and I strive to adapt lessons and my style to accommodate every student, I have utmost confidence in the capabilities of every child.  I know that we are all different individuals with different skills and preferences, and that is what makes us humans beautiful; although I never expect less from someone based on their dislikes.
Teacher/Parent Collaboration

Teacher-parent collaboration is essential to child success, and elimination of a teacher's stress.  At this stage in a child's education, parent involvement and encouragement can really determine whether or not a child can succeed.  Certainly, children with no parents or absent parents can and will succeed in the classroom, although the involvement and encouragement, and honestly slight pressure, too, can be extremely helpful in student success; parents are an integral part of the classroom dynamic.

Experience

My name is Emily Anne Quick.  I recently married my best friend on a beautiful evening in May, 2014.  We dated for seven years, all throughout high school and college, and I hope, for the rest of my life.  It has been clear to me that I would become a teacher for a long time; since youth I have known that God has given me a talent and a passion for learning, and I know that teaching is the best way to exercise my talents to honor the Lord. I am extremely blessed beyond measure to be in the place I am today, and am very thankful for the opportunity to make an impact on your child's life.  I look forward to meeting you all!
DeSoto Central High School is my Alma Mater, and with love and excitement I have proudly rejoined these halls as a faculty member.  I am overjoyed to be employed by one of the very best schools in DeSoto County, and the third best school in the state.  I went on from DCHS to complete a Bachelor's of Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi, with endorsements in Science, which qualifies me to teach Earth & Space at the High School level.  I am extremely blessed beyond measure to be in the place I am today, and am very thankful for the opportunity to make an impact on your child's life.  I look forward to meeting you all!
