About the Teacher!

Education and Experience:

I am so thrilled to be a Jag again! I am an alum of DCHS, class of 2017. I attended Northwest Mississippi Community College and was a part of many of their productions in their Fine Arts program, from stage manager to set designer. I am forever thankful for the professors who allowed me to grow. I graduated in 2019 with an Associate of Arts. I then attended Mississippi State University and graduated with my Bachelors's in Communication with a minor in theatre, and there I also was a part of the Fine Arts program. I now am currently a Lighting Designer for several theatres throughout the North Mississippi area. I have been designing since 2018 and have directed several shows as well. In the 2022-2023 school year, I was a special education teacher, and it showed me that theatre allows everyone to be equal and feel safe. I have always wanted to have the ability to teach others about how theatre has millions of opportunities, and not just being on stage. There is always a spot for someone in the theatre, and I cannot wait for students to find their place in my theatre!

I have been nominated for several North Mississippi Theatre Alliance Awards (Allie Awards) for Lighting Design:

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, 2020

Bonnie and Clyde, 2021

Shrek the Musical, 2022

I have also been nominated for Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival awards:

Calvin Berger - NWCC, 2018

Pipeline and Red - MSU, 2021

Certifications:

Special Education: K-12

Drama: K-12

Personal Info:

I didn't realize until 2020, but I have always wanted to become a teacher. I do it all the time when I work in other theatres. I have just wanted to help people learn something new and figure out new things, and now I am thrilled to finally be able to do it everyday. I spend my free time in theatres around the Mid South with their current productions. When I am not in a theatre I spend as much time as I can with my little beagle Copper, who loves to go on walks and chase birds.
