Subjects Taught

I am a product of Desoto County Schools.  I graduated with honors from Southaven High School in 1991. I attended Delta State University on a softball scholarship and received my Bachelor of Social Science Education degree.  I am certified to teach Special Education as well as Social Studies.

After finishing my degree in December of 1995, I taught 7th grade Social Studies and 10th grade World History from January of 1996-May of 1996 at Coldwater High School.  In August of 1996, I began my teaching career at Southaven High School.  While there I taught 9th grade Mississippi Studies and World Geography for 5 years.  I then taught 10th grade World History and 11th/12th grade Sociology from 2001 through 2006.  From 2006 through 2012, I taught 12th grade United States Government and Sociology. From 2012-2014 I was the School Test Coordinator at Southaven High School.  In 2014, I began teaching Special Education at Southaven High School.  In August of 2015, I transferred to Hernando High School to be an Inclusion teacher within the History classes as well as teach a Resource Lab. In August of 2017, I began teaching Economics at Desoto Central High School.  It's a Great day to be a Jag!

My name is Alicia Wright Stafford and I am an Economics teacher at Desoto Central High School. I graduated from Southaven High School in 1991 and began college at Delta State University in August of that same year.  I attended DSU on a fast pitch softball scholarship and loved every minute of it! I taught at Coldwater High for the Spring semester of 1996.  I then taught at Southaven High School from August of 1996 through May of 2015 and at Hernando High School from August of 2015 through May of 2017. I got the opportunity to teach at Desoto Central High School and jumped at the chance!  My daughter Raegan is a 10th grader at DCHS where she plays on the Volleyball team and Varsity softball team.  As you can probably guess, I spend most of my time after school and on the weekends at the volleyball court or the softball fields and I wouldn't have it any other way!  When I'm not busy with school or her activities, I like to read books, run and listen to music. I am so excited to be a part of the Jaguar family!  Go Jags!
