Our History

In August 1999, DeSoto Central School opened in the current DeSoto Central Middle School building with grades K-6.  Since its inception, DeSoto Central has become a community in its own right.

With the construction of a new high school building, DeSoto Central High School opened its doors on August 12, 2003.  The opening of DeSoto Central High School made the Kindergarten through twelfth grade facility on Central Parkway complete. In May 2006, the first group of seniors graduated from DeSoto Central High School.

In May 2012, the first-ever DeSoto Central kindergarten students became DeSoto Central graduates.  These 38 students began attending DeSoto Central when the school first opened in 1999, and they were part of the 315-member Class of 2012.

DeSoto Central High School is one of the highest-performing schools in Mississippi.  Only 11 high schools in Mississippi have been named as a Star School for three consecutive years (2009, 2010, and 2011), and DeSoto Central High School is one of those 11 high schools.  DeSoto Central also has one of the highest graduation rates in the state of Mississippi, and our students' performance on state testing is traditionally among the best in the state.

Parent Portal

Parent Portal

Welcome to the NEW! ParentPortal, a tool designed to enhance the communication and involvement of parents in their child's education in the DeSoto County School District.

New users, please click the link below to access the ParentPortal website.

Parents must create a single log-in account for Parent Portal. If you have more than one child you can create one account for all children.  If a parent had a child/children in DeSoto County Schools last school year, that parent will need to use their original log-in information (log-in name and password from last year) to create this SINGLE log-in account.

If students are new to DeSoto County Schools, parents will need to go to their child’s school and pick up the generated log-in name and password to create the single log-in account.  Secondary users can create their own account, as long as they have the original log-in information.

To create the single log-in, go to the Parent Portal website above. At the sign in page, click on Create an account. Enter the "Create Parent Account" information at the top. Then enter the "Link Students to Account" information at the bottom. Enter the Student's name, Access ID, Access Password, and relationship for each student you wish to add to your Parent Account. The password provided is case sensitive. Click Enter. This will generate your new, single Log-in Account information. If you are experiencing problems creating your account, please contact your child's school.

The ParentPortal allows parents to monitor their child's progress in school by providing Internet access to grades, attendance, discipline, academic history, graduation verification, and standardized test results in a secure password-protected environment.

Parent Portal is a means to further promote educational excellence by enhancing our program of communication between parents, students and teachers.
