Ways to Prepare for Success:
I understand this is a hard history class. My goal is to prepare students to be successful on the U.S. History test in 11th Grade. I want them to be confident in their ability.
To do this, we have worked on note-taking, study techniques, and individual learning styles in class. If there are any questions about this, please see me in tutoring, lunch, or before class starts. I am always happy to help with learning. By the time they leave my class, students should know what methods work best for them and how to be successful in any classroom they enter.
Mrs. Fennema's Favorite Visual Method to Study Notes:
1. Put the slide into your own words (summarize)
2. Draw a picture for each slide
3. Highlight the vocab, events, and people in different colors
4. Summarize the entire powerpoint in a few bullet points to get the major concepts
5. Summarize each slide for smaller concepts or connections
By the end of this, you have reviewed your notes 4 times and only spent around 10 minutes each time.
