Welcome to Coach Burkes’ Health Class!
I will be your Health teacher this year. I am looking forward to teaching you the importance of being physically, mentally, and socially healthy. I will teach you how to maintain a life long ability to remain healthy.
This is a 9 weeks course, where we will discuss various topics and the influences on your overall health and wellness.
My name is Jason Burkes and this is my second year at DeSoto Central High School. I have been teaching and coaching for the past 14 years. This year, I am teaching Health Education and also the assistant girls basketball coach. I love what I do and have a passion for helping students reach their full potential. I look forward to working with the school, community, and parents to make this a great school year for all our students.
I’m married to my wife Angela Burkes, who is the counselor at Olive Branch High School. We have four children, Taylor(15), McKenzie (11) and twins Jason Jr (10) and Jordyn (10), . I received my bachelors degree in Kinesiology from Mississippi State University and my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. We are all excited to be a part of the Jag Family.
