Welcome to Spanish I at DCHS! I love the Spanish language and use it to communicate with my husband, our family, and our friends. However, I learned Spanish like most of you – as a second language. Learning a new language can be daunting but exciting! I hope to help each of my students fall in love with the Spanish language and Caribbean culture just as I have.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from New York University. I also attended the Spanish Immersion Program at Middlebury College in Vermont. I have taught English Language Arts and Spanish in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Most recently, I was living and working at a school in the Dominican Republic, where I met my husband, Francis. I enjoy spending time with my family and my rescue pup from the DR (Esperanza), cooking, and reading Caribbean literature.
