Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

I will be teaching College and Career Readiness, AP U.S. Government and Politics and Economics for the 2023-2024 school year. I am also the department chair for the Social Studies Department and an advisor for the DCHS Ambassadors.  I attended DeSoto County Schools, and I am a graduate of Southaven High School.  I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from the University of Mississippi and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Arkansas State University.  This is my 16th year at DCHS. 

College and Career Readiness

 

College and Career Readiness (CCR) is  designed to provide students with planning, resources, and skills to help them be successful in their postsecondary transition to college and the workforce.

There is no textbook for the CCR class.

 

CCR students will be completing assignments on paper and electronically this year. Schoology will be the online platform used for certain course assignments and assessments as well as for class communication.

AP Gov. and Economics

AP Gov will be a semester class for the 2023-2024 school year.

Specific course and AP exam information will be provided to students during the first few days of the semester. 

Students enrolled in AP Gov will complete their Economics credit requirement during the semester they are enrolled in AP Gov.

The successful completion of AP Gov (government credit) and Economics is required for graduation.
