I teach U.S. Government and AP U.S. Government and Politics.  I attended DeSoto County Schools, and I am a graduate of Southaven High School.  I have a bachelor's degree in Secondary Social Studies Education from the University of Mississippi and a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Arkansas State University.  This is my 12th year at DCHS. 
U.S. Gov. Extra Credit
1. Congress Extra Credit: Research and list the two current U.S. Senators from MS and the 1st District U.S. House Representative from MS and the party affiliation for each one.  All parts must be complete and correct in order to receive the extra credit points. Worth 5 possible extra credit points. Due 1/30.
2. Impeachment Extra Credit: Research and list the two U.S. Presidents who were impeached and if they were removed from office as a result of the impeachment. Worth 5 extra credit points.  All parts of your response must be complete and accurate in order to receive the extra credit points.  Due 2/6.

3. Supreme Court Extra Credit: Research and list the CURRENT nine Supreme Court Justices and the POTUS who appointed them.  Due 2/18.  All parts must be complete and correct in order to receive points.  Worth 10 possible extra credit points. 

U.S. Gov. Calendar
AP Gov
AP U.S. Gov and Politics will be taught during the second semester of the 2019-2020 school year.  The course will be following the CollegeBoard's 2018 redesigned format to align with the AP exam that will be taken in May 2020. Students taking AP U.S. Gov and Politics will be required to take online dual enrollment economics at the same time as AP Gov.
