DCHS Chemistry Weekly Update - Sept 17  
CHEMISTRY STUDENT of the WEEK -

This week we talked about electron behavior. Ask your student to explain why fire works have different colors. I assure you that you will be proud of the answer you get. I know I am 😊
 
Extra Credit opportunities were announced this week for the following:
1- Desoto Grace 5K Run (September 29 at 8:00AM)
2- Desoto Grace Tutoring (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30PM - 730PM) 2 Tutoring Sessions = one extra credit grade
 
This week is Homecoming week. We encourage students to participate. Please be sure your student stays within the DCHS handbook dress code guidelines.

Monday - “Advance to the Next Space” – Space Day
Tuesday  - “Game Day” – favorite board game, video game, sports team
Wednesday - “What do you Meme?” – Meme Day
Thursday - “Guess Who?” Twin Day

Progress Reports will be going out Thursday, September 13. 
 
Students were tested today on Unit 2 - The Atom. I will be grading those over the weekend. They will be included on student progress reports.

DCHS Chemistry Weekly Update - Sept 4

I hope everyone had an awesome Labor Day! I am sure everyone is looking forward to going back to school tomorrow. 
 
I have been grading lab reports and projects so grades will be updated in PowerSchool Tuesday morning. 
 
Students need to be sure they are staying on top of their homework/classwork, labs, practice at home, etc. Students should also remember tutoring is every morning from 7:50AM-8:18AM. Their pass is on Edmodo. If they don't show their pass they will not be able to down the hall.

Students are off to a great start 😊 I am very happy to see everyone participating during class as well as collaborating with others. We all know we don't like getting out of our comfort zone, but sometimes need to in order to grow a little.

Back to School 1st Semester 2018 - 2019  

I hope everyone has had an awesome summer and is ready to start a new school year. Here is where I will post my DCHS Weekly Chemistry Update. We use Edmodo as our online classroom and all calendars, HW/CW, projects, and resources can be found by accessing either a student account or a parent account. If you would like information on how to access the parent account please feel free to contact me and I can give you the class code in order to access. 

I look forward to a great school year and first semester in Chemistry!
